In 2006 the sponsors announced that they were not going to carry on sponsoring this series and Nationwide Insurance took over. They would then increase their involvement and offer car as well as track sponsorship.
Three years after the first race took place the first Eldora 500 began. It had 33 sprint cars and they had to do 500 laps. In 1967 he had already promoted seven other tracks and the 500 lap race fell away. In 1971 he held the World 100 and offered a $4.000 prize to the winner.
