6 Amazing Locations To See With BVI Yacht Charters

By Marissa Velazquez

Some of the most sublime boating locations in the Caribbean are to be found in the British Virgin Islands. With an abundance of white sandy beaches, stunning diving spots and fabulous dining opportunities, discerning visitors are never at a loss for something to see or do. Any reputable company offering BVI yacht charters will be happy to advise on the best attractions. With that said, here are six attractions that are absolute must-sees.

Virgin Gorda is the third-largest of the islands and is home to the famous 'baths'. Massive boulders form a series of caverns that are home to some stunning rock formations. Exploring these formations with a snorkel and flippers is one of the pinnacle experiences the islands have to offer. Note that the baths can get busy with tourists, so it is best to go early (before 10.00am).

RMS Rhone was a postal ship that sank near Salt Island in 1867. Its wreck is now a major attraction for diving enthusiasts visiting the Caribbean. In addition to the remains of the ship that are still intact, one can see a variety of marine life that has settled in and around the old wreck.

Sandy Spit island close to Jost Van Dyke is the epitome of the desert island idyll. Its pristine white beaches are simply breathtaking and perfect for a lazy day of sun worship. More active visitors can don their snorkel and flippers and explore the beautiful coral that surrounds the island.

On Jost Van Dyke itself there is the famous bubbly pool. This natural jacuzzi is a tidal pool that sits behind cliffs facing the sea. Its name comes from the effect created by the waves that are broken into bubbly froth as they engulf the pool. This is great fun to experience and is well worth the short hike needed to get there.

The Indians are a series of jagged rocks near Norman Island, and are an unmissable spot for divers and snorkelers. They are home to just about every variety of marine life, with reef fish, crustaceans and jelly fish among the marine fauna to be seen. Particularly captivating is when the sun illuminates the vibrant colors of the reef. This sight alone ensures the Indians are considered one of the best diving spots in the entire region.

Anegada should be on the itinerary of every foodie, and in particular, anyone who loves lobster. The best lobster restaurants in the region are to be found on this group of islands. The Lobster Trap is one of the best known restaurants on the islands, with their barbecued lobster being a speciality. A variety of other sea food delicacies are also served in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.

With this being the Caribbean, rest assured there will also be plenty of rum on tap to wash down all that delectable sea food. BVI yacht charters are the perfect medium for taking in these and other attractions that the region has to offer. The luxury and unrivalled freedom offered by a modern yacht makes for a uniquely special way to explore these fascinating islands.
