The northern state is dotted with majestic mountains that are surrounded by pristine waters to leave no one disappointed.

Without a doubt, the majestic mammals are simply breathtaking. These are huge creatures with friendly eyes, and whoever can see them up close will never forget this image. Being continuously on display, they feel comfortable being close to humans, so they are not fearful of swimming up close to or beneath the boats.

Some lucky tourists can experience viewing close to 100 whales in some areas. What one does get to see has a lot to do with the tour, and the month they are visiting. The more common whales are the humpbacks and orcas, sometimes seen very close together. Additionally, people can also enjoy the different wildlife as they track close to the shoreline. The scenery is literally unbelievable, with the gentle giants swimming about, and the immense glaciers floating along. For instance, the humpback is known to leap and jump out of the water close to the shore, with the longest pectoral fins of any type of whale. Anyone who's done their homework would also know that the humpback must eat approximately half ton of food daily, just to survive. The Minke species can also be seen swimming along the Alaskan coastline. However, it's important for someone to keep a close eye, as they are so quick they can be difficult to spot.

Killer whales, whose bodies are black and patched with white are also a common site. These are also known as orcas. They typically swim close to the surface, with their tail fins above the surface, making them easier to spot. This species lives in groups known as pods, working together to hunt for their food, which also includes lovable penguins, seals, and dolphins.

Nothing is as exhilarating as watching a creature in its own natural habitat, as this Alaskan tour would indicate. No matter what one's age, it will be a memorable experience. As such, it's important to plan wisely when considering such a trip. First, observe the different companies reviews and choose from the best. Next, book way in advance because they can be sold out very quickly.

Planning ahead for a trip means proper packing. One needs to stay warm in the open seems that bring on a cold breeze, even if the sun is shining. If one isn't dressed properly, they may have to stay inside, instead of where they should be, on the deck. Remember that this is a breathtaking experience, so binoculars would serve one well, as would a camera. However, don't play with the equipment as these glimpses can last only seconds, often not enough to snap a good photo. In the end, one can miss everything and still never get a good shot.
