By Tyler Ramos

Brazil has much to offer visitors: a vast landscape that is full of history and culture. A vacation to this beautiful country is one that surely be not easily forgotten. Porto Alegre boasts an amazing array of beautiful landscapes, historical landmarks and museums and a nightlife that will have you partying all night long. Porto Alegre City in Brazil is the capital city of the state of Rio Grande Do Sul, and is the 10th largest metropolitan area, with more than 1.5 million people.

This populous city offers a variety of things to do and see, and many people find it difficult to narrow down their choices. One of the must-see attractions is the Central Public Market. Operating since 1869, this building has a beautiful architecture and the market sells a wide selection of items, including fresh fruit, fish and ice cream. There are also several restaurants to eat in.

If you are travelling with your family, the PUC Science and Technology museum is a great place to learn and explore. It has many hands-on exhibits and experiments that kids and adults alike will find entertaining, including an earthquake simulator. Stop and have lunch at the cafeteria or grab a quick snack at the snack bar.

Another activity on your itinerary should include a Rio Guaiba boat cruise. This guided tour will amaze you with the vast landscapes and scenery. Going through the western portion of the city, you'll ride on to IIhas do Lage, where the most amazing beaches await you.

The Metropolitan Cathedral is a site that can't be missed. The Renaissance-style building was started in the 1700's but was not actually completed until 1986, due to a number of interruptions. The two front towers are 50 meters high and the building itself is 80 meters long and 47 meters wide, making it an impressive structure.

If you are having trouble deciding on what sites to see, or you only have a short amount of time, you may want to book a guided tour. These bus tours will allow you to see all of the major historical buildings and landmarks in a shorter amount of time than if you were to go on your own. They run at least two to three times a day, especially during the peak season and they are quite economical. Beaches and parks are also a good choice if you want a relaxing afternoon to have a picnic, such as the Botanical Gardens.

The climate is considered sub-tropical, meaning the temperatures stay relatively mild all year long. Summers can be hot and humid with highs of over 90 degrees F. Winters don't generally dip much below 60 degrees F. Snow is almost unheard of here, although rain can be heavy during certain times of the year.

Porto Alegre City in Brazil is sure to be enjoyed by the entire family. Look online to search for other attractions that sound interesting to you and worth a visit. Make a list of possible attractions to see. When you book with your travel agent, ask them about guided tours or itineraries that are included in your trip. Before booking, search the internet to compare different packages and prices. This may take you some time and a bit of searching but it will be worth it when you find a good deal. Never travel without purchasing insurance and always choose a reputable travel company.
