San Francisco has always been known as the Bay City, as it is bordered on three sides by water. When visiting here one can feel cool air from the stunning Golden Gate Bridge. There are numerous natural phenomenon here; Mother Nature has created some spectacular sites, right here in the Bay area.

The Islands
There are over forty-eight different islands in the Bay area. Some of the most renowned include Alcatraz. The shark plagued waters have nipped at the success of many Alcatraz attempted escapes. Alcatraz's most infamous prison resident was Al Capone, the famous mob criminal with a lengthy reputation.
National Wildlife Refuge
Found on Angel Island, travelers can find the National Wildlife Refuge. Here the "biological treasure-trove archipelago" can be discovered. This island is not accessible to visitors, to conserve the animals and plants in their natural habitats. Regardless, it's possible to observe the island from the bay. This natural wonder towers over 922 feet in the air. In past times these peaks were used as a lookout. Today the Twin Peaks are something everyone visiting the Bay area should see.

Travelers will find Seal Rocks at the north end of Ocean Beach. This rock formation is feted for attracting California Seals. This area is legendary for its golden beaches and pockets of rock formations. The seals use to make this a prime area for play and that is why it is called Seal rock. Driving by on any specific day to see seals sunning themselves on these rock formations.
