Are You Looking for a Good Hookah Flavor?

By John McCree

Trying to find the suitable hookah flavor for you? This article reveals several good resources for you in deciding and buying your ideal shisha flavor.

Shisha is the name of the flavored tobacco which is generally used in the a hookah. Common, modern-day shisha is made up of some or all of the following ingredients:

1. Tobacco

2. Treacle (uncrystallized syrup produced in refining sugar)

3. Honey

4. Sugar

5. Molasses

6. Glycerin

7. Nicotine

8. Dried Fruit

9. Distilled Water

The hookah smokers prefer the common fruity flavors such as apple, banana or mango. But, there are plenty of new and creative flavors in the market such as Starbuzz's "Blue Mist". The vast majority of new flavors use a fruit flavor as the base. This includes flavors such as banana split and blueberry muffin.

Shisha flavors have become extremely versatile due to the relative ease of flavoring during production. Any ingredient can be mixed in dried tobacco during the production to make unique flavors.

Social Smoking

Hookah is usually shared in a social environment where the smokers may gather for pleasant chat and to enjoy the aroma generated by the flavored shisha smoke. As hookahs grew in popularity through the Middle East centuries ago, it became typical to see them in drinking and eating establishments. These days, you can find hookahs even in the homes of many people.

The smoke from shisha has a calming impact on the smoker, which is one of the many factors why it became popular quickly. As a comparison to cigarettes, hookah smoking is done more as a social pursuit and for the flavor, instead of for any sort of biological affect. While cigarettes provide more of a "quick fix" having a potent dose of nicotine and a typically annoying aroma, a flavorful hookah session may last one hour or longer, and shisha does not have near the addictive features as cigarettes.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

To get the most out of your hookah you don't need much, but just some good common sense and a sound sense of discipline. If you are a hookah owner then you should make it a habit of cleaning your hookah on a regular basis Clean your hookah with warm soapy water following each use, or at the minimum wash it meticulously in between switching brands or flavors.

To have a longer and smoother smoking session, you should make sure that the charcoal doesn't burn up the tobacco. This can be done by keeping some distance between the foil and tobacco. When you are packing the bowl, make sure that the tobacco is at least a few millimeters below the rim of the bowl. This way, when you will wrap the aluminum foil on the top of the rim, there'll be distance between the foil and tobacco. You can also place two toothpicks crossed on top of the mound to ensure space between the shisha and foil. Additionally, while "packing" the bowl, don't pack the tobacco down firmly. A loose mound of tobacco that will allow the air to pass through it is perfect. This will also prevent the tobacco from burning as quickly, and it will need less suction on the hose to get a nice, full flavorful hit. In order to prevent overheating many people use two sheets of aluminum foil. The rule is very simple don't burn the shisha.
