Flavors You Can Have in Hookah

By John McCree

Would you like a hookah flavor that suits your taste buds? Read along to find how you can find a superb hookah flavor that fits your taste.

Hookahs are used to smoke flavorful tobacco, mostly termed as "shisha". Regular, modern-day shisha comprises of some or all of the following ingredients:

1. Tobacco

2. Treacle (uncrystallized syrup produced in refining sugar)

3. Honey

4. Sugar

5. Molasses

6. Glycerin

7. Nicotine

8. Dried Fruit

9. Distilled Water

The producers of shisha have been experimenting a great deal recently and they've produced some really creative flavors such as Fantasia's "Cuban Mojito". Even so, fruit flavors are still the most popular flavors among hookah smokers. The manufactures have also introduced many other flavors which are offshoots of fruity flavors. Flavors such as Apple pie, blueberry muffin and banana split are among the popular ones.

Shisha flavors have become versatile due to relative ease of flavoring in the course of manufacturing. The dried tobacco, glycerin, and sweetener can be combined with essentially any other ingredients to produce one of a kind flavors.

Social Smoking

Hookah is normally shared in a social environment where the smokers may gather for friendly discussion and to enjoy the scent produced by the flavored shisha smoke. Once hookah became popular in the Middle Eastern nations, every single social establishment started serving hookahs. Today they are seen in places from smoking parlors, to nightclubs, to the house.

Much of the increasing popularity of shisha can be ascribed to the flavor and calming effect of the smoke. People smoke it out of social pursuit and not for any kind of biological effect it has. Cigarettes on the other hand are addictive and give a quick fix with a high dose of nicotine. While a hookah session lasts longer than a cigarette, the former is not addictive for the smoker.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

No rocket science here, but some good common sense and discipline can go a long way in getting the most out of your hookah. For starters, cleaning and maintaining your device appropriately is a must. After each smoking session you must wash your hookah. It is advisable to wash hookah with warm water than with cold water.

To enjoy a longer and smoother smoking session, you should make sure that the charcoal doesn't burn up the tobacco. The tobacco shouldn't get stuck to the foil, better yet, the tobacco shouldn't even touch the aluminum foil. When you are packing the bowl, ensure that the tobacco is at least a couple of millimeters below the rim of the bowl. So that when you wrap the foil, there is distance between the tobacco and the aluminum foil. One more technique that you can use to maintain distance between foil and the tobacco is to put two toothpicks in cross on the tobacco. Tobacco shouldn't be packed down very tightly in the bowl. Instead, loosely pile it into a fine mound allowing the air to flow through the mound. Doing this, you'll be able to get a flavorful hit without having to strongly puff on the hose. If desired you may even use two sheets of aluminum foil to help prevent against overheating. The name of the game here is: KEEP IT REALLY CLEAN AND DON'T BURN THE SHISHA!
