Engineers and enterprising executives have long dreamed of designing and building a vehicle intended to haul around the rich business class of America. What they want is to design an executive van, finding the right place and time to launch it. For years, people have considered going to these vehicles, but have run into a myriad of problems with making it.
Aside from the US, in China they consider the multiple passenger vehicles to be the ultimate status symbol commuting in the crowded streets. The MPV transport around the high powered executives in the equivalent of the minivan in the United States. These minivans move around the business class and government officials in posh interiors, and nice creature comforts inside.
Unlike the usage in China, the MPV in the United States is considered a much different role as the family mover. It will never been seen in America as the status symbol, but viewed as the suburban family car. Ideally, it is accepted to have great room inside while being able to transport large families from the grocery store to soccer games.
The large vans exist in the US as the commercial work truck, or a large people hauler for business or organizations. The conversion vans were widely popular in the nineteen seventies capably of carrying many people and accepted as high end transportation. The end of this started as the gas crises unfolded, families gravitated to a hauler that was lighter, nimble and used less gas.
So, there is no personal large van to transport the high end business class in America. There are many reasons why this has not come back and offered by the automotive companies. First, this market is simply not large enough for an automotive company to design and build a low volume vehicle. The average budget on brand new vehicle for an automotive company is about four billion US dollars.
The next reason why an idea like this stalled out is no personal market or needs by the consumer. Adding in all of this luxury into a large vehicle like this would skyrocket the overall price of it. If you notice a van during transport to an airport, it is basic and stripped down, strictly for moving people only and never intended as a personal vehicle.
To bring this mammoth to market, engineers would have to find a way to make it fuel efficient. Due to the size and girth of these vans, it's not feasible to use this for personal reasons. Even if engineers come up with a way to make it useful around town, the weight alone would be hard on the wallet with gas prices.
Many engineers have dreamed of a way to bring a new executive van to the business class. This market would be intended to move high level government officials and rich business class executives. While a wild dream, this idea is not feasible due to the market it would in, engineering and development costs, and the horrible fuel efficiency.
