Mandela is one of the most famous African presidents who is known to have taken the shortest term in the presidential seat. He is also known to be one of those many Africa presidents who spent most of their life in detention. Below are some great and interesting facts you may need to know about Nelson Mandela.

Throughout his lifetime, Mandela was awarded numerous honours and awards. He was an honorary member of Manchester United, Honorary citizen of Canada and honorary member in British Labor Party. His name is known to have been used in a variety of instances including a nuclear particle (the Mandela particle) prehistoric woodpecker (the Aistralopicus nelsonmandelai) as well as an orchid (Paravanda Nelson Mandela).

While studying in the Fort Hare, Mandela was expelled after he was discovered to have participated a student protest. However, Mandela completed his degree in Unisa University few years later. He also joined the Wits University where he pursued his law degree.

When serving his term in prison, Mandela is known to have been housed in a 2M by 2.5M cell. Besides these facts, Mandela has gained lots of popularity due to his hard work and efforts to change South Africa from what it was to a new state where apartheid is no more.
