By Jaclyn Hurley

For most tourists, Morocco is one of the countries anyone would want to visit. Even though it has a long history of Spanish and French colonization, most of its towns have dearly guarded their culture, making it more interesting. You can feel the presence of their past culture in towns like Fez, with lifestyle here influenced by the Berber traditions which existed during the original Moroccan kingdom. Notably, the geographical appearance of this country is fascinating, characterized by mountain ranges, Mediterranean coast and a stretch of empty sand of the Sahara. This gives a tourist all the reasons they need to travel to Morocco for an exciting experience in this country.

One is sure to have plenty of fascinating features and scenery to enjoy. From the said mountain ranges, the Sahara desert and Atlantic coastal beaches, a visitor will definitely appreciate their time in this country. However, one needs to learn a few tips about the area to enable effective planning for their trip.

For instance, the widely used language here is Arabic. In this case, you are likely to hear most of this, often, when you crisscross different streets. Fortunately, many people speak Spanish, English or French, and will mostly address visitors in these languages. One certain thing is that they will throw in some terms in their dialect amidst conversations.

Good news is that the people here are peaceful. This is also among the stable countries among the Arab world. Political, economic and social reforms engineered by the leadership of King Mohammed VI have also played a major role in making it a peaceful country. This has actually helped improve tourism in the country.

Visitors can enjoy various activities. You could choose hiking at the Atlas Mountains, enjoy Sahara excursions, go fishing, or just unwind in one of the laidback resorts. Good news is that one will have enough fascinating activities to engage in no matter the time of year they visit. You will also enjoy interacting with the people of this region, who are peaceful, hospitable and generous.

It is advisable to keep off the desert during summer. Specifically, July and August are extremely hot in Morocco and you will be very uncomfortable touring the Sahara. Suitable places in this season are the mountains and the coast. Spring presents a good opportunity for visitors as they can visit most of the beautiful places. Coming in April and May, both the mountains, Mediterranean coast, desert and the south experience a summer-like climate.

It gets extremely cold in the deserts at night during winter, but they may be a favorable place to visit at daytime. Of importance is to choose a hotel that has proper heating to take care of the cold nights. Cheaper hotels may lack such facilities. Make sure to ask before checking in.

Another important consideration for visitors to this country is the Islamic religious calendar. Their religious holidays such as Ramadan come with some changes that will interfere with your stay there. For instant, it could be challenging to find transport by public means during the one month day fasting season.
