To all of those affected by super storm Sandy, there has been a recent rush of travel issues with people trying to leave the island. Airports are extremely difficult to navigate with some being shut down completely and the others having less planes leaving at slower rates. It has become much harder to fly clear in these particular situations.
The amount of planes leaving the New York and New Jersey areas have been diminished considerably. Being clear to fly has become substantially more difficult than before the storm. Finding flights to specific locations is hard to come by so people are trying every type of transportation they can find to try and find places that are easier to live at the moment.
With the amount of power outages still in the area, some people are leaving the Long Island in an attempt to find heat and power to try and keep a normal schedule. Finding a place that has heat and maybe more importantly Internet has become a priority for a lot of people.
If you are trying to fly out of New York, JFK International is most likely your best bet. It has the most planes leaving at the highest frequency as compared to LaGuardia which was hit very hard by hurricane Sandy. Being able to fly clear has become increasingly more imperative to people's everyday lives with the amount of planes available becoming sparse.
With the amount of damage from the hurricane, it has become very hard for gas to reach Long Island. Many people are trying to leave because of the lack of electricity, but the conundrum is that they do not have any gas to leave. No electricity and no gas means people have no choice but to deal with the situation as best as possible.
