Krabi is a little further south but offers fantastic scenery and awesome climbing activities. Krabi also has the famous limestone Karst known as James Bond Island, which juts out of the sea. It looks spectacular from the beach at Au Nang.

Not too far out of the city, on top of a hill is Wat Doi Suthep, which is a beautiful Buddhist temple complex with stunning views over Chiang Mai. The north region has many trekking opportunities too.
